Saturday | 1:30 – 3:30 PM at Gaia
This Saturday, we are delighted to welcome two very special guests to Gaia: Katy Torney and her llama Fritz, alongside Leanne Pizio, illustrator, potter, and creative luminary. Join us for an afternoon of books, artistry, and heart-felt connection.
Katy’s Story
Katy Torney is more than an author. She is a veteran, a storyteller, and a champion of service through both personal experience and community action. Her foundation honors veterans and pairs them with service dogs through the Garret Torney Foundation. Her two children’s books — “Boots” and “What Would Llamas Do?” — capture her warmth, wit, and belief in purpose. Fritz the llama will be here too, bringing delight (and photos!) for all ages.
Leanne’s Artistry
Leanne Pizio brings her talent for illustration and texture to our event. Her bold sgraffito work — where black and white serve as the canvas for vibrant pops of color — is playful, tactile, and deeply creative. For Katy’s books, Leanne sculpted the whimsical creatures and joyous scenes that now live on the page. Her sculptural ceramics reflect the same playfulness and rich detail: layered, textured, and full of personality.

Why We’re Honored
At Gaia, we curate things that matter — creations with character, stories behind them, craftsmanship you can feel. This event brings together literature, art, compassion, and community. It’s an afternoon to pause, connect, maybe laugh behind a llama’s ears, and remember that beauty isn’t just what we wear—it’s what we share.
